Entrepreneurship StudioLab

The StudioLabs

The Entrepreneurship StudioLabs will be the place where our students turn ideas gleaned from their education into ventures that tackle societal issues. We are a haven for the cross-pollination of thinking and creativity between students, faculty, subject experts, and industry practitioners. These StudioLabs are designed to cultivate student ideas from their initial generation to launching them in the form of entrepreneurial ventures. You know that gap between the academy and the workplace? We bridge it. We apply the intellectual horsepower of Harvard students to real-world problems. Expect transformative results.

LPCE100 - Spring 2021

LPCE100. A seminar for the students learning the entrepreneurial landscape. Taught by faculty and industry practitioners with a focus on generating ideas, building teams, developing business plans, organizing strategically, communicating persuasively, and attracting human and capital support.

This spring, LPCE is excited to have launched LPCE100 - a seminar based undergraduate class teaching innovation and entrepreneurship basics to empower students to create this new normal into a BETTER normal. LPCE100 is a two-credit course developed for students who have the desire and skills to face challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice, and climate change, but are unsure of HOW to enact change. Through LPCE100, students will develop the analytical mindset and innovative skillset required to create actionable solutions to pressing issues. Students will learn to identify and analyze problems, collaborate to create an actionable approach, build an organizational strategy and business plan, network with experts, and persuasively communicate ideas to build the requisite human capital and funding relationships to launch a venture. Through your efforts, you will reimagine a better normal for society and take meaningful action to make it a reality.

This class is taught by Dr. Alain Viel, Senior Lecturer in Molecular and Cellular Biology, and industry practitioners with a focus on generating ideas, building teams, developing business plans, organizing strategically, communicating persuasively, and attracting human and capital support.

LPCE101 - Coming Spring 2022

LPCE1O1. A projects-focused four-credit seminar for individual students or teams prepared to move forward with a venture from conception to execution. These will focus on developing student projects via hands-on assistance, mentorship, and resources from program staff and mentoring from influential members of our Mentor Council composed of private and public sector industry and subject-experts. Be on the lookout for this course in Spring 2022!

How is LCPE100 structured?

The course contains a mix of in-person lecture, team-based ideation, guest speakers, and support from industry mentors. It meets weekly for 90 minutes. There are some additional recommended events and an overlap between concurrent classes.

In LPCE100, will I work in teams or individually?

Students in LPCE100 will mainly be working in teams curated by the course staff based on registered enrollees. Students are encouraged to provide input to course staff on ideas or challenges they would like to work on.
Entrepreneurship is not static. Your ideas change, you pivot, and all of a sudden you have a new plan of action and are back to ground zero. Having the course be 2 credits allows students to take it multiple times, whether with a new idea or to continue working on an existing one.
